About Us

Our journey to healthy feet

I’ve been creative ever since I was a child and liked to create, draw, write and make things, and even as a little girl I liked to go into my dad’s workshop. When I grew up I couldn’t figure out what sort of activity would give me a sense of fulfilment and purpose. After I finished school I came to my dad’s workshop to help make shoes, and that was when I had my eureka moment: make shoes, be creative! That feeling when a totally perfect women’s boot is born in my hands is just indescribable, and that’s what I want to do.

A few years ago when I started taking Pilates lessons, which are excellent for straightening the body and back, my instructor told me about barefoot footwear and how it benefits the feet and the whole body in all aspects. So being me, I just had to try it right away.

That was when I grew to love barefoot walking and walking in barefoot shoes. In the course of time, it became an increasing problem to find "normal" barefoot shoes, so I decided to try out my own hand at making some. I spent my evenings and weekends trying to figure out what to do to make the shoes look nice and fit the feet as they should. One afternoon after a few trial-and-error attempts, I finally came up with a beautiful, minimalist, elegant design that was a perfect fit and shape with enough room for the toes. In that moment of excitement I realised that these shoes could be just the thing for other women as well, that they might appreciate them too and that I could help them a lot. I gave some to my friends to try, they loved them, and then we started receiving orders.

I’m interested in everything to do with health and healthy lifestyles, but what fascinates me most is feet. We should be grateful to our feet for carrying us all our life, and look after them as much as possible. Everything that happens in our body starts from our feet.

My job has become my hobby. I love it when I can spend hour after hour in our workshop where I lose track of the time constantly coming up with something new which takes both me and you that one step further. Thank you for buying our shoes, for loving them so much, thank you for your wonderful reviews that warm my heart and make me happy. None of this would be possible without you.

Our Pictures

Our-photos-pro-web1We know how important it is for you to be able to look at the goods before buying, to see how they feel, and try them on, and this is especially true with footwear. When you shop online, of course, this isn’t possible. That’s why we help you by measuring the insoles for you, and by taking clear, detailed pictures.

We always try to photograph them in their natural environment, that is outdoors, where the true colours show up better in the pictures. Sometimes we even wait for several days for the ideal light conditions.

Particularly with barefoot footwear it is important to see how the shoes fit the feet and that’s why we also include photos of the shoes actually being worn on a real foot.

We take our photographs using a Canon EOS 600D reflex camera.

Taking photos of the shoes from all possible angles is just the beginning. We then work our way carefully through the many different pictures to select the best ones. Sometimes we take more pictures until we get the perfect shot. Then we resize the pictures and add our logo. For commercial purposes we will be happy to send you the photos in full resolution. All you need to do is send us an e-mail.

Our Materials

Please bear in mind that hide is a natural material, not a man-made product, so there may sometimes be minor visual inconsistencies in its appearance. That’s why every pair of shoes we make is original. The structure of the leather can also vary in different places even on the same hide, so sometimes it’s a challenge to make the left and right shoes a perfect match. :-D.

Leather is a lay expression for a hide material which is a tanned pelt, predominantly from  mammals, from which the outer hair is removed during the tanning process.

The hides that we use are suitable for barefoot footwear manufacture. They are precision-processed to produce a smooth, velvety surface. This results in a slightly darker and more finely-textured leather.
